Bars place each figure against the 7 garage and utility units we track, from the lowest published value to the highest, with the median marked. A bar is drawn only where at least three units publish the figure. Green sits on the better side of the median, amber on the weaker side; amps and weight have no better side.
"Not yet verified" means the manufacturer has not published the figure or we could not confirm it. We never fill a gap with a guess and we do not invent measurements: every figure is the maker's own or a specialty dealer's, and the source is named.
The short version
What we like
- ✓507 air watts and 95 in water lift from an Ametek Lamb 5.1 in motor, per VacuMaid
- ✓50 ft hose with a matching hose hanger reaches far more floor than the GV30's 30 ft
- ✓7 gal sealed five-layer HEPA-style bag; the 1 gal garage peers need far more bag changes
- ✓Powder-coated galvannealed steel, built by Lindsay Manufacturing in Oklahoma
- ✓Plugs into a 120V outlet; no pipe, inlets or wiring
What we'd change
- ✕Out of stock on VacuMaid's site; the Garage Vac PRO is the current line
- ✕CFM, noise and dimensions are not published
- ✕Plastic wands, and a 50 ft hose is heavy to drag and store
Who this unit is for
The VacuMaid GV50 Garage Vac is a wall-mounted garage vacuum, not a whole-house central vacuum. It is the same power unit as the GV30: a 5.1 in Ametek Lamb motor in a powder-coated galvannealed steel canister over a 7 gal sealed bag, built by Lindsay Manufacturing in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The one difference is the hose, 50 ft instead of 30 ft, with a larger hanger to hold it.
That hose is the reason to choose it. From one wall in a three-car garage, 50 ft reaches the far bay and a car parked in the driveway, which 30 ft usually will not. The trade is a heavier hose to drag and more to coil at the end. Compare it with the InterVac GarageVac GH-120 and Dirt Devil CV1500, which ship 35 ft stretch hoses and 1 gal bags, and with VacuMaid’s Garage Vac PRO, which is sold with 30 ft or 50 ft hoses and a larger motor.
VacuMaid listed the GV50 as out of stock and sold out on 2026-10-27, with the PRO line current. Read the PRO review before you buy old stock.
What the specs tell you
VacuMaid’s figures are the GV30’s: 507 air watts maximum, 95 in of sealed water lift, 12 A maximum at 120 V, and a motor life of 400 to 450 hours. Air watts predicts cleaning power at the tool, and 507 puts it level with the InterVac GH-120 (530) and Dirt Devil CV1500 (501). Water lift is sealed suction. On a 50 ft hose, water lift does more work than on 30 ft, because every foot of hose costs some suction; 95 in is adequate but the Garage Vac PRO’s 138 in gives more margin at the end of a long hose. CFM is not published.
Noise and dimensions are not published. The 31 lb weight is the web store’s product weight, most likely a shipping figure.
Collection is a sealed five-layer 7 gal HEPA-style bag (HPB2H) rated by VacuMaid to filter fine particles up to 99.98 percent, with a protector plate and screen beneath it. No certified HEPA rating is claimed. It is dry pick-up only; liquids, drywall dust and cement dust void the warranty, and an optional WP-112K wet pick-up kit exists.
One oddity on the maker’s page: a paragraph still says the standard hose is 30 ft, while the accessory list and the SKU say 50 ft. The manual’s parts list names the 50 ft hose as HS150 and its hanger as H231, so the 50 ft kit is real; confirm which hose is in the box if you buy from a third party.
Fit and compatibility
Nothing to pipe and nothing to wire. The hose plugs into the utility-valve inlet on the front of the unit and the record lists no inlet systems and no pipe size. The hose cuff is 1-1/4 in, matched by the wands and tools.
Mount the wall hanger bracket on a stud and plug into a grounded 120 V outlet within 5 ft; VacuMaid says no extension cord. At 12 A maximum, run it on a garage circuit that is not also feeding a compressor. Masonry anchors for block or concrete walls are not included. Exhaust outside is optional.
What’s in the box, and what you still need
In the box: the power unit, a 50 ft hose with 1-1/4 in cuff, a plastic telescopic wand and plastic curved wand, a 12 in floor tool with natural bristles, a dusting brush, upholstery tool and crevice tool, the 50 ft size hose hanger bracket, a tool caddy bag, the wall hanger bracket for the unit and one 7 gal HPB2H bag.
Not included: masonry anchors, the optional WP-112K wet pick-up kit and spare bags. A 50 ft hose coiled on a wall hanger takes a fair amount of wall; plan the hanger’s spot next to the unit before you drill.
Warranty and support
VacuMaid’s product page states 5 years residential use and 90 days commercial use. The manual gives 5 years on the Garage Vac system and 2 years on hoses, floor brushes and cleaning tools, for single-family residential use; any commercial or industrial use is 90 days on everything. The Garage Vac warranty page adds lifetime limited coverage on the canister and 5 years on the motor and internal electrical. It is for the original owner, non-transferable, and void if serviced by anyone other than an authorized VacuMaid dealer.
Marketplace purchases are not addressed on VacuMaid’s warranty pages. Lindsay Manufacturing is itself the seller on at least one VacuMaid Amazon listing, so the seller name tells you whether you are buying from the maker.
Living with it
Bag changes are rare at 7 gal. The chore you will notice is the hose: 50 ft is a lot to pull around a car and a lot to coil back onto the hanger. If your garage is small, the GV30’s 30 ft is easier to live with and reaches just as far as you need.
No noise figure is published. Treat it like any single-motor garage vacuum: fine in a detached or closed garage, worth venting outside and keeping off a bedroom wall in an attached one. The 400 to 450 hour rated motor life is plenty for weekend use.
What we’d verify before buying
- Stock: sold out at the maker on 2026-10-27; confirm what a third-party seller actually has.
- Which hose ships: the page text mentions 30 ft in one place and 50 ft elsewhere.
- CFM, noise and dimensions: not published.
- Weight: 31 lb is likely shipping weight.
- Seller name on Amazon.

Frequently asked questions
Is the VacuMaid GV50 a central vacuum?
No. It is a wall-mounted garage vacuum whose single hose plugs into the unit. There is no pipe network and no remote inlets.
What is different from the GV30?
Only the hose and its hanger. The GV50 ships a 50 ft hose (VacuMaid part HS150) and the larger H231 hanger; the motor, bag and tools are the same.
Is it still available?
VacuMaid listed it as out of stock and sold out on 2026-10-27, and presents the Garage Vac PRO as the current model.
How much suction does it have?
507 air watts and 95 in of sealed water lift, drawing up to 12 A. CFM is not published.
What bag does it take?
The sealed five-layer 7 gal HEPA-style bag, part HPB2H. One ships with the unit.
Can I pick up water with it?
Not without the optional WP-112K wet pick-up kit. The unit is dry pick-up only, and liquids void the warranty.
What is the warranty?
5 years residential use and 90 days commercial. Hoses and tools get 2 years; VacuMaid's Garage Vac warranty page adds lifetime limited coverage on the canister and 5 years on the motor.
