Bars place each figure against the 7 garage and utility units we track, from the lowest published value to the highest, with the median marked. A bar is drawn only where at least three units publish the figure. Green sits on the better side of the median, amber on the weaker side; amps and weight have no better side.
"Not yet verified" means the manufacturer has not published the figure or we could not confirm it. We never fill a gap with a guess and we do not invent measurements: every figure is the maker's own or a specialty dealer's, and the source is named.
The short version
What we like
- ✓507 air watts and 95 in water lift from an Ametek Lamb 5.1 in motor, published by VacuMaid
- ✓7 gal sealed five-layer HEPA-style bag; the garage peers we cover use 1 gal bags
- ✓Complete kit: 30 ft hose, wands, floor tool, three small tools, hose hanger and caddy bag
- ✓Powder-coated galvannealed steel, built by Lindsay Manufacturing in Oklahoma
- ✓Plugs into a standard 120V outlet; nothing to pipe or wire
What we'd change
- ✕Listed out of stock on VacuMaid's site; the Garage Vac PRO is the current line
- ✕CFM, noise and dimensions are not published
- ✕Plastic wands and a plain hose where the PRO ships metal wands and a crush-proof hose
Who this unit is for
The VacuMaid GV30 Garage Vac is a wall-mounted garage vacuum, not a whole-house central vacuum. There is no pipe, no remote inlets and no low-voltage wiring. The 30 ft hose plugs into a utility-valve inlet on the front of the unit and reaches the cars, the workbench and the floor from there. Lindsay Manufacturing builds it in Ponca City, Oklahoma, from rolled galvannealed steel with a powder-coat finish.
It is for a one- or two-car garage where 30 ft of hose covers everything from the mounting spot, and for a buyer who wants a large sealed bag rather than a shop vac’s open drum. The right comparisons are the InterVac GarageVac GH-120 and the Dirt Devil CV1500, both 1 gal garage units, and VacuMaid’s own GV50 (the same unit with a 50 ft hose) and Garage Vac PRO.
One caveat first: VacuMaid’s site listed the GV30 as out of stock and sold out when we checked on 2026-10-27, and the Garage Vac PRO is the current line. Read this as a guide to the unit if you find one, and read the PRO review before you decide.
What the specs tell you
VacuMaid lists 507 air watts and 95 in of sealed water lift from an Ametek Lamb 5.1 in motor drawing a maximum of 12 A at 120 V, with a rated motor life of 400 to 450 hours. Air watts predicts cleaning power at the tool; 507 sits between the InterVac GH-120’s 530 and the Dirt Devil CV1500’s 501, so the three are in the same class. Water lift is sealed suction. It matters more on a long piped run than on one 30 ft hose, and 95 in is adequate for this job. CFM is not published.
Noise is not published, and neither are dimensions. Weight is 31 lb, but that is the figure VacuMaid’s web store assigns to the product and is likely a shipping weight.
Collection is bagged: a sealed five-layer 7 gal HEPA-style bag, part HPB2H, which VacuMaid says filters fine particles up to 99.98 percent, with a protector plate and screen under the bag. The maker does not claim a certified HEPA rating, so we call it HEPA-style. For a garage, 7 gal is the number that matters most. The InterVac and Dirt Devil units carry 1 gal bags. The unit is dry pick-up only; VacuMaid says liquids, drywall dust and cement dust void the warranty, and sells an optional WP-112K wet pick-up kit.
The 400 to 450 hour motor life is a figure you rarely see printed. For a garage vacuum run an hour a week that is years of service. For daily shop use it is not, and VacuMaid’s Utility Vac line publishes 1,500 hours for that kind of buyer.
Fit and compatibility
There is nothing to fit to. The GV30 is not meant to be piped: the hose plugs into the utility-valve inlet on the unit, and the record lists no inlet systems and no pipe size. The hose has a 1-1/4 in cuff, which the wands and tools match.
Mounting is a wall hanger bracket screwed to a stud. VacuMaid wants a grounded 120 V outlet within 5 ft and says not to use an extension cord. At 12 A maximum it should have a garage circuit mostly to itself while running. Masonry anchors for a block or concrete wall are not included. Exhaust outside is optional, and most garages will not need it.
What’s in the box, and what you still need
In the box: the power unit, a 30 ft hose with 1-1/4 in cuff, a plastic telescopic wand and plastic curved wand, a 12 in floor tool with natural bristles, a dusting brush, upholstery tool and crevice tool, a hose hanger bracket, a tool caddy bag, the wall hanger bracket for the unit and one 7 gal HPB2H bag.
Not included: masonry anchors, the optional WP-112K wet pick-up kit, and spare bags. The wands are plastic and the hose is a standard hose; the Garage Vac PRO ships chrome metal wands and a crush-proof hose.
Warranty and support
VacuMaid’s product page says 5 years residential use, 90 days commercial use. The 2018 manual spells that out as 5 years on the Garage Vac system and 2 years on hoses, floor brushes and cleaning tools, for single-family residential use only; commercial or industrial use drops everything to 90 days. The separate Garage Vac warranty page adds lifetime limited coverage on the canister and 5 years on the motor and internal electrical. Original owner only, non-transferable, and void if the unit is serviced by anyone other than an authorized VacuMaid dealer.
VacuMaid’s warranty pages do not mention Amazon or other marketplaces. Lindsay Manufacturing sells at least one VacuMaid unit on Amazon itself, so check the seller name on any listing and keep the receipt.
Living with it
Routine care is changing the 7 gal bag when suction drops, which at garage volumes is rare. Keep it dry. Sawdust and road grit are what it is built for; drywall and cement dust are not, by VacuMaid’s own terms. Hang the hose on its bracket and keep the tools in the caddy bag so they stay by the unit.
With no noise figure published, assume a 5.1 in Ametek motor in a bare garage is loud enough that you would not want it on a wall shared with a bedroom. Venting outside is optional.
What we’d verify before buying
- Availability: out of stock on VacuMaid’s site on 2026-10-27; the PRO is current.
- CFM, noise and dimensions: not published.
- Weight: 31 lb is the web store figure, likely shipping weight.
- Whether 30 ft of hose reaches every corner from your mounting spot; the GV50 is the same unit with 50 ft.
- Seller name on Amazon, since VacuMaid’s warranty pages do not address marketplace purchases.
