Bars place each figure against the 7 garage and utility units we track, from the lowest published value to the highest, with the median marked. A bar is drawn only where at least three units publish the figure. Green sits on the better side of the median, amber on the weaker side; amps and weight have no better side.
"Not yet verified" means the manufacturer has not published the figure or we could not confirm it. We never fill a gap with a guess and we do not invent measurements: every figure is the maker's own or a specialty dealer's, and the source is named.
The short version
What we like
- ✓740 air watts and 138 in water lift from an Ametek Lamb 5.7 in motor, published by VacuMaid
- ✓7 gal sealed five-layer HEPA-style bag; the InterVac and Dirt Devil garage units use 1 gal
- ✓50 ft crush-proof hose, chrome telescopic and curved wands, floor tool, three small tools, hanger and caddy
- ✓Rated motor life of 550 to 650 hours, with a published replacement motor part number
- ✓Seven colors and a 30 ft hose option; built by Lindsay Manufacturing in Oklahoma
What we'd change
- ✕Noise and dimensions are not published by the maker; retailer figures vary
- ✕15 A draw wants its own 20 A garage circuit
- ✕Dry pick-up only; liquids, drywall and cement dust void the warranty
Who this unit is for
The VacuMaid Garage Vac PRO is a wall-mounted garage vacuum, not a whole-house central vacuum. No pipe, no remote inlets, no wiring: a 50 ft hose plugs into a utility-valve inlet on the front of the unit and you clean cars, floors and benches from there. Lindsay Manufacturing builds it in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in powder-coated galvannealed steel.
It is the current model in VacuMaid’s garage line and the one to compare the others against. Next to the older GV30 and GV50, it has a larger motor, a crush-proof hose and metal wands. Next to the InterVac GarageVac GH-120 and Dirt Devil CV1500, it has about 40 percent more air watts and seven times the bag capacity, in a much larger and heavier steel canister. It suits a two- or three-car garage or a home shop that generates real volume.
What the specs tell you
VacuMaid lists 740 air watts and 138 in of sealed water lift from an Ametek Lamb 5.7 in motor drawing a maximum of 15 A at 120 V, with a rated life of 550 to 650 hours and a published replacement motor, part MB122264. Air watts predicts cleaning power at the tool; 740 is the highest in our garage records and the same figure VacuMaid prints for its full-size house units. Water lift is sealed suction, and 138 in is what makes a 50 ft hose work: the longer the hose, the more suction you lose along it, and this unit has the most to spare. CFM is not published.
Noise is not published. Retailer listings cite 68 dB, and weights from 21 to 30 lb, but VacuMaid prints neither, and the record’s 31 lb is the web store’s product weight, probably shipping. Dimensions are not published either.
Collection is a sealed five-layer 7 gal HEPA-style bag (HPB2H) that VacuMaid says filters fine particles up to 99.98 percent, with a protector plate and screen under the bag. No certified HEPA rating is claimed. Dry pick-up only: VacuMaid says liquids, drywall dust and cement dust void the warranty and sells an optional WP-112K wet pick-up kit.
The 550 to 650 hour motor life is longer than the GV30’s 400 to 450 but well short of the 1,500 hours VacuMaid gives its Utility Vac bypass motor. For a home garage that is years of use; for a business, read the warranty section.
Fit and compatibility
Nothing to fit. The record lists no inlet systems and no pipe size, and VacuMaid says the unit is not intended to be piped. The hose cuff is 1-1/4 in; the chrome wands and tools match it.
Mount the included wall hanger bracket on a stud and plug into a grounded 120 V outlet within 5 ft, with no extension cord. At 15 A maximum this unit should be alone on a 20 A circuit while it runs; on a shared 15 A garage circuit it will trip breakers. Masonry anchors for block or concrete are not included. Exhaust outside is optional.
What’s in the box, and what you still need
In the box: the power unit, a 50 ft crush-proof hose with 1-1/4 in cuff, a chrome telescopic wand and chrome curved wand, a 12 in floor tool with natural bristles, a dusting brush, upholstery tool and crevice tool, a hose hanger bracket, a tool caddy bag, the wall hanger bracket and one 7 gal HPB2H bag.
Not included: masonry anchors, the optional WP-112K wet pick-up kit and spare bags. If 50 ft is more hose than your garage needs, the 30 ft version of the PRO is the same unit with less to coil.
Warranty and support
VacuMaid’s product page states 5 years residential use and 90 days commercial use. The manual gives 5 years on the Garage Vac system and 2 years on hoses, floor brushes and cleaning tools, single-family residential only; commercial or industrial use is 90 days on all of it. The Garage Vac warranty page adds lifetime limited coverage on the canister and 5 years on the motor and internal electrical. Original owner, non-transferable, and void if serviced outside an authorized VacuMaid dealer.
VacuMaid’s warranty pages say nothing about Amazon or other marketplaces. Lindsay Manufacturing sells at least one VacuMaid unit on Amazon as the seller of record; check the seller name on the color listing you choose and keep the receipt.
Living with it
At 7 gal, bag changes are an occasional job even in a busy shop. The crush-proof hose can be stepped on and driven over without kinking, which matters in a garage; hang it on its bracket between uses. Keep the tools in the caddy so they stay with the unit.
Without a noise figure from the maker, plan for a 5.7 in motor to be loud in a bare garage. Vent outside if the garage is attached and the wall backs onto living space. Keep it dry and keep it off drywall and cement dust, or you are on your own for the motor.
What we’d verify before buying
- Noise: not published; the 68 dB retailer figure is unconfirmed.
- Dimensions: not published; weight 31 lb is likely shipping.
- CFM: not published.
- Which color SKU and hose length the listing actually ships.
- Seller name on Amazon, since the warranty pages do not address marketplace purchases.
