Bars place each figure against the 4 compact units we track, from the lowest published value to the highest, with the median marked. A bar is drawn only where at least three units publish the figure. Green sits on the better side of the median, amber on the weaker side; amps and weight have no better side.
"Not yet verified" means the manufacturer has not published the figure or we could not confirm it. We never fill a gap with a guess and we do not invent measurements: every figure is the maker's own or a specialty dealer's, and the source is named.

Who this unit is for
The OVO 550ST-18B is for a condo, townhome or small house where the power unit has to live in a utility closet or laundry cabinet, and where 4 inlets cover the floor plan. OVO rates it at 550 air watts for about 4,000 sq ft. It is bag-only and 19.49 in tall, the same body as the 630ST-18B.
It is the entry point of OVO’s compact line. If you have the wall space for a full-size unit, a residential unit in the VacuMaid SR14 class gives you more suction, a bigger canister and bag flexibility; this unit’s whole argument is its footprint.
What the specs tell you
OVO’s spec sheet lists 550 air watts and 120 in of water lift from a single-stage thru-flow motor with soft start and stop. Air watts predicts carpet cleaning at the tool; 550 is the lowest OVO figure we cover and sits in the lower-mid range of our records. Water lift is sealed suction for pipe runs and climbs; 120 in is adequate for a short, compact layout and the reason OVO stops the rating at 4 inlets. The 630ST-18B on the same chassis gets 630 air watts, 122 in and a fifth inlet.
Noise is 62 dB, two decibels above the 630. In a condo closet that difference is small; the closet door matters more.
Collection is bagged only: a 3-layer FD-12.5L bag inside an 18 L top-load canister, behind a mandatory FILPCDO-VAC permanent protective filter that OVO says is rinse-only, not machine washable. Bag changes are clean and the motor stays protected; the trade is a 12.5 L bag that fills faster than a full-size unit’s, and no bagless fallback.
Not published: CFM, amps and weight. The product page lists 16 by 16 by 22 in and 22 lb, which looks like the shipping carton rather than the unit.
Fit and compatibility
Standard 2-inch pipe. OVO lists both low-voltage and direct-connect electric inlet systems. Power is plug-in 120V through an attached 72 in grounded cord; not hardwired. The air intake is on the side of the canister, so check pipe routing against the manual before you cut.
Exhaust outside is recommended, not required. A PIP-89-BK exhaust fitting is in the box; OVO sells a HEPA exhaust filter and muffler separately for installs that vent indoors. Dimensions are 11.73 in deep by 19.49 in high by 11.42 in wide on OVO’s MUSUP-SD-V1 bracket, which is packed inside the canister with rubber anchors and screws. Top-load means you lift the bag out from above, so leave clearance over the unit inside a cabinet.
What’s in the box, and what you still need
In the box: the power unit, MUSUP-SD-V1 wall bracket with anchors and screws, one FD-12.5L bag, the FILPCDO-VAC permanent protective filter, the attached 72 in grounded cord, an LV-SOCKET-V3 low-voltage wire socket and a PIP-89-BK exhaust fitting.
Not included: hose and attachments (unless you buy a kit variant), PVC pipe, fittings and inlets, and the optional HEPA exhaust filter or muffler. Bags come in 3-packs as FD-12.5L-3OVO.
The Amazon listing mentions an integrated muffler. OVO’s product page does not; it describes double noise isolation and sells the muffler separately. Treat the muffler as not included.
Warranty and support
OVO: 10 years on parts (motor, electronic module, body and dust bin), 1 year labor, original owner, residential use only, with an optional paid 25-year extension. Proof of purchase and a qualified electrician’s installation invoice are mandatory, which is worth knowing for a plug-in unit many people would install themselves. Bags must be changed at least twice a year and the permanent filter replaced at the manual’s interval to keep coverage.
OVO’s documents do not mention marketplaces, so coverage on a marketplace purchase is unstated. OVO is made by Nadair of Laval, Quebec, which states that no parts or repair service is available in Quebec after sale.
Living with it
Bags are FD-12.5L, changed at least twice a year by warranty and more often in practice. The FILPCDO-VAC filter is rinse-only. The LED indicator and soft start and stop are on the product page; the manual covers bag-only operation for both the 550 and 630.
At 62 dB this is quiet for a central vacuum, but the unit sits inside living space in most condos. Vent outside if you can; if you cannot, budget for the optional HEPA exhaust filter.
As of October 2026 OVO’s own site lists this unit as out of stock. Marketplace listings may still be live; confirm the model code on the label, because the 550 and 630 look identical.

- Whether the “integrated muffler” in the Amazon listing exists; OVO sells the muffler separately.
- Current availability; OVO’s site showed it out of stock in October 2026.
- Marketplace warranty coverage: not addressed by OVO.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the OVO 550ST-18B and the 630ST-18B?
Same 18 L body, bag, filter and bracket. The 550 is rated 550 air watts, 120 in, 62 dB, about 4,000 sq ft and 4 inlets. The 630 is rated 630 air watts, 122 in, 60 dB, about 5,000 sq ft and 5 inlets.
Can it run without a bag?
No. It uses the FD-12.5L disposable bag only, behind a permanent FILPCDO-VAC protective filter that is rinse-only.
How loud is it?
62 dB per OVO's spec sheet and product page.
What size motor does it have?
OVO's documents disagree. The spec sheet prints a 145 mm / 5.7 in motor; the product page and the parts list point to a 4.2 in motor, part MOT-C02. We could not resolve it.
