"Not yet verified" means the manufacturer has not published the figure or we could not confirm it. We never fill a gap with a guess; our own measurements are added once a unit has been tested hands-on.
The short version
What we like
- ✓Specs on Broan-NuTone's accessory page and a spec sheet
- ✓Direct-connect current-carrying universal end; no pigtail needed
- ✓3-position switch: off, unit, unit plus powerhead
- ✓Swivel handle, UL recognized, hose hanger included
What we'd change
- ✕Needs electrified direct-connect inlets; the powerhead gets no power on plain low-voltage inlets
- ✕Warranty not published; NuTone line now owned by Drainvac
- ✕Diameter and color conflict between spec sheet and distributors
Who this hose is for
The NuTone CH515 is for a home with electrified direct-connect inlets that runs an electric powerhead, most obviously a NuTone system with a NuTone head. The wall end picks up 120V from the inlet, so there is no pigtail cord to plug in at each stop. It is documented on Broan-NuTone’s accessory page and a spec sheet, and it ships with a hose hanger.
It is the wrong hose for plain low-voltage inlets, where there is no 120V to carry.
What the specs tell you
The record gives 30 ft, direct-connect, crushproof, swivel handle, 1.25 in ID, frost white, a three-position switch, UL recognition and 7.3 lb. The three-position switch is the feature that matters daily: off, unit only for bare floors and tools, unit plus powerhead for carpet. Running without the brush when you do not need it saves the belt and the carpet edge. UL recognition means the hose’s electrical construction has been evaluated, which is worth something in a hose carrying 120V.
The 1.25 in ID is standard. Weight of 7.3 lb is typical for a 30 ft electric hose.
Conflicts: some distributors list 1-3/8 in and dark gray instead of 1.25 in and frost white. The spec sheet is the record’s source. Thirty feet is the shortest length among hoses we cover, which on an electric hose is less of a drawback than it sounds: electric hoses are heavier than low-voltage hoses because of the conductors, and 7.3 lb is easier to live with than what a 40 ft version would weigh.
Fit and compatibility
The direct-connect current-carrying universal end mates with an electrified inlet: the inlet supplies 120V through prongs, the hose carries it to the handle, and the powerhead’s wand plugs in there. If your inlets are standard low-voltage with only two contacts, the unit will start but the head will not run; you want a pigtail hose instead. Paired powerheads are listed variously as the NuTone CT600/CT650 or CT700, so compare your head’s wand plug with the handle receptacle before buying.
Electrified inlets carry line voltage. Adding them is a licensed electrician’s job.
What’s in the box, and what you still need
In the box: the hose and a hose hanger with hardware. You still need an electric powerhead with a matching wand plug, tools, and a power unit with electrified direct-connect inlets. A hose sock is separate.
Warranty and support
Not published. Broan-NuTone’s general terms cover original consumers in the US with evidence of purchase and do not mention marketplaces. Broan-NuTone’s central vacuum line is now owned by Drainvac, and the Drainvac page for the NuTone line returned an error on 2026-10-17, so the current support path for NuTone accessories is unclear. Keep the receipt and confirm with Drainvac.
Living with it
Seat the wall end fully so the prongs make contact; a loose fit means a brush that cuts out. Use the middle switch position on bare floors. Hang the hose on the included hanger, coiled loosely, and never pull it out of the inlet by the hose body. If the brush stops but suction continues, check the wall-end seating and then the handle plug.
What we’d verify before buying
- Warranty: not published.
- Diameter and color: spec sheet 1.25 in frost white versus distributors 1-3/8 in dark gray.
- Powerhead pairing: CT600/CT650 or CT700 depending on source.
- Who administers NuTone accessory support after the Drainvac transfer.
- That your inlets are electrified direct-connect.
What's in the box, and what you still need
Included
- ✓ hose hanger and hardware

Most power units ship without a hose or powerhead. Our attachments guide explains which hose fits your inlets.
Frequently asked questions
What is a current-carrying hose?
A hose with 120V conductors inside. The CH515's direct-connect wall end picks up 120V from an electrified inlet and delivers it to the handle for an electric powerhead.
Will it work on a regular low-voltage inlet?
It needs an electrified direct-connect inlet to power the head. On a plain low-voltage inlet there is no 120V to carry.
What does the 3-position switch do?
Off, unit only, or unit plus powerhead.
What is the diameter?
The spec sheet says 1.25 in ID and frost white. Some distributors say 1-3/8 in and dark gray. Confirm with the seller.
Which powerheads pair with it?
Sources list the NuTone CT600/CT650 or CT700. Compare your head's wand plug to the handle.
What is the warranty?
Not published. NuTone's central vacuum line is now owned by Drainvac.
