Who this hose is for
The NuTone CH235 is for someone replacing a 30 ft low-voltage hose on a NuTone system, or on any standard low-voltage system, who uses plain tools or an air-driven turbine head and wants to switch the unit from the handle. It is listed on Broan-NuTone’s accessory page, which gives the basic specs more weight than a listing alone.
It will not run an electric powerhead. For that NuTone offers the CH515.
What the specs tell you
The record gives 30 ft, low-voltage, crushproof, swivel handle, on/off switch at the handle, 1.375 in diameter, vinyl, dark gray and a universal hose end. The 1.375 in figure is slightly larger than the 1.25 in ID common to most hoses; whether that is an inside or outside measurement is not stated by the record, so do not assume it changes which wands fit. The swivel handle keeps the hose from twisting as you work. Crushproof vinyl springs back when stepped on.
Thirty feet is the shortest length among the hoses we cover. On a well-planned system with an inlet every 30 ft of walking distance it is fine; on a sparse system it will leave corners unreached. Shorter hoses have real advantages, though: less weight to drag, less to coil, and slightly more suction at the tool because there is less hose for the air to fight through. If your old hose was 30 ft and reached everything, there is no reason to go longer.
The on/off switch deserves a word. A low-voltage hose without a switch starts the power unit the moment the wall end seats in the inlet and runs until you pull it out. A switched hose lets you pause to move furniture or empty a tool without walking back to the inlet. It also lets you plug in first and switch on second, which is easier on the unit’s relay.

Fit and compatibility
The universal low-voltage end has two contacts that close the 24V start circuit in a standard inlet, and the handle switch interrupts that circuit. NuTone says it fits NuTone and most standard inlets. It carries no 120V, so electric powerheads will not run; turbine heads and tools work. It is not for proprietary 2-prong inlets.
What’s in the box, and what you still need
The record lists no contents beyond the hose. You need a wand, tools and a power unit with compatible inlets. A hanger and sock are separate.
Warranty and support
The warranty is not published. Broan-NuTone’s general warranty terms cover original consumers in the United States with evidence of purchase and do not mention marketplaces. The larger issue: Broan-NuTone’s central vacuum line is now owned by Drainvac, and the Drainvac page for the NuTone line returned an error on 2026-10-17, so who handles a NuTone accessory claim today is unclear. Keep your receipt and confirm with Drainvac.
Living with it
Hang it loosely coiled, keep the two wall-end contacts clean, and use the swivel to avoid kinks. If the unit does not start when plugged in, check the handle switch position first. The vinyl is dark gray, which hides scuffs.
