Who this unit is for
The VacuMaid SR66 is for owners of large homes who want disposable bags, a quiet unit and a motor built to last. VacuMaid rates it for 10,000 sq ft and says it is compatible with Hide-A-Hose retractable systems. It is built by Lindsay Manufacturing in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and has a published spec sheet, which puts it ahead of many rivals on documentation alone.
It is for replacement buyers and new installs on standard 2-inch pipe. Anyone who wants bagless should look at the P125P or the Imperium CV7300.
What the specs tell you
VacuMaid’s spec sheet lists 663 air watts, 132 in of water lift and 139 CFM from an Ametek Lamb 6.6 in Premier 2-stage tangential bypass motor drawing 14 A, with a life of about 1,500 hours. Air watts predicts carpet cleaning at the tool; 663 is solid mid-pack. Water lift is sealed suction for long runs and climbs; 132 in supports the 10,000 sq ft rating. CFM is airflow; 139 is strong and good for bare floors.
A tangential bypass motor routes cooling air separately from the dirt stream, which protects the motor if a bag fails and is part of why the unit is rated at 58 dB with vented exhaust, tied for quietest in our records.
Collection is bagged only, using HPB2H multi-layer disposable bags with an inner liner. VacuMaid calls them HEPA-style; that is bag filtration, not a sealed HEPA exhaust. Bagged means clean changes and a protected motor against an ongoing bag supply.
Weight is not published. Height conflicts: 36 in on the product page versus 26 in on the spec sheet.
Fit and compatibility
Standard 2-inch pipe, wall bracket mount. VacuMaid lists low-voltage and direct-connect electric inlet compatibility. Plug-in 120V, 14 A; not hardwired. VacuMaid states Hide-A-Hose compatibility.
Exhaust outside is recommended and the noise figure assumes it. Diameter is 12.875 in. Height is either 26 in or 36 in depending on which VacuMaid document you read; plan for 36 in.
What’s in the box, and what you still need
The record lists nothing specific as included beyond the unit. Not included: hose and attachments, pipe, fittings and inlets. Confirm with the seller whether a bracket and a starter bag ship with it. Add HPB2H bags and an exhaust cap.
Warranty and support
VacuMaid’s product page states a 10 Year Limited Lifetime Warranty. The warranty page breaks it down as lifetime limited on the canister and 10 years on the motor and internal electrical, for the original owner on US-sold units. Non-transferable; void if serviced by anyone other than an authorized dealer with replacement parts; claims go first to the authorized dealer-installer.
VacuMaid’s warranty page does not mention Amazon or unauthorized sellers. Lindsay Manufacturing sells at least one VacuMaid unit on Amazon directly; check the seller name on your listing.
Living with it
Maintenance is HPB2H bag changes. The record gives no interval; change when suction at the far inlet drops or the bag is about two-thirds full. The bypass motor does not pull dirty air through itself, so a late bag change is less risky than on a thru-flow unit, but it still chokes airflow.
At 58 dB vented it is as quiet as units get here. Vent it outside and mount it in a garage or utility space.
What we’d verify before buying
- Height: 36 in versus 26 in across VacuMaid’s own documents.
- Weight: not published.
- What ships in the box; the record lists nothing.
- HEPA: bag-level filtration only; confirm if you need sealed exhaust filtration.
- Amazon seller name, to know whether you are buying from Lindsay or a dealer.
