Who this kit is for

The OVO Deluxe Plus kit is for a home with standard low-voltage inlets and a mix of carpet and bare floors, whose owner wants a spinning brush for the carpet without electric hoses, pigtail cords or electrician visits. Everything needed at the hose end is in the box and itemized, which is rarer than it should be.

It is not the kit for deep-pile carpet in a home that wants maximum agitation; that is the electric Carpet Deluxe kit.

What the specs tell you

Retail listings give a 30 ft crushproof low-voltage hose with handle switch and swivel, an air-driven carpet beater, a 12 in pivoting horsehair floor brush, a telescopic steel wand of 25.5 to 38 in with button lock, a dusting brush, upholstery tool, crevice tool, accessory bag and chrome hose hanger.

The air-driven beater is the key choice. A turbine head is spun by your power unit’s airflow, so it needs no electricity and works on any hose. The trade is that it slows when airflow drops: deep pile, a full bag, a dirty filter or a long pipe run all reduce brush speed. On low to medium pile it does the job. The 12 in horsehair floor brush is for bare floors; horsehair is soft on hardwood. The telescopic wand with button lock fits standard 1.25 in tools.

Thirty feet is the shortest hose length we cover. Not stated: hose diameter, beater width and weight.

Compared with the Standard kit, you give up the combination tool and gain the air-driven beater plus a dedicated horsehair floor brush. Compared with the Carpet Deluxe kit, you give up the electric beater and the pigtail cord that comes with it, and in exchange nothing in this kit needs a wall outlet. For a home that is mostly bare floor with a few rugs, that is the right trade.

Fit and compatibility

The low-voltage hose has two contacts that close the 24V start circuit in a standard inlet, with the handle switch interrupting it. It carries no 120V, so this kit cannot take an electric powerhead later without a new hose. The air-driven beater and all tools fit the kit’s own wand; standard 1.25 in tools from other brands will generally fit a button-lock wand too, but the record does not confirm it.

Living with it

Clear hair from the beater’s brush roll often; a slowed turbine is usually a wrapped brush. Use the floor brush on hardwood and tile. Hang the hose on the chrome hanger, loosely coiled, and keep the wall-end contacts clean. Identify the beater’s belt from the head when it arrives, since the record does not give a part number.
